Morton Frederick LeVee

Fred was a true and caring brother and friend. He was an individual whose warm smile touched the lives of many. Fred enjoyed socializing with others and greatly valued his friends and neighbors. While attending the University of North Carolina Wilmington, he developed cherished friendships. His daily rounds always included stops at the Books-A-Million coffee shop to visit with good friends there. His kind heart was also quickly recognized by pets and animals he rescued.

Fred was born and raised in the Panama Canal Zone; after high school, he attained an AA degree from the Canal Zone College. He has many friends from the old days in Panama. Fred was drafted and served in the army artillery in Vietnam. After his service time was up, he married Barbara Bartlett of Wilmington in 1971, and they were married for ten years. He worked at Carolina Power and Light and retired in 1990. He then continued his studies to complete a B.A. degree in Philosophy from the University of North Carolina Wilmington.

He and his brother Richard LeVee of Reno, Nevada kept in close communication and visited when possible. There are invaluable childhood memories, and hours of talking each week that will be greatly missed. Fred was dearly loved by many people.

Fred, we miss you greatly. You will always be in our hearts and we wish you peace.

“May the light of God surround you,
The love of God enfold you,

The power of God protect you,

And the presence of God watch over you.

Wherever you are, God is and all is well.”
