Mrs. Martha Cannon Merritt, age 78 of Wilmington, NC, passed away Thursday, September 16, 2010, in Castle Hayne.

Born in Horry County, she was a daughter of the late Gurley Cannon and Ruth Todd Cannon. She was also predeceased by ten siblings.

Survivors include her husband, Curtis Leo Merritt, Sr. of Wilmington; a daughter, Flora Padgett and husband Willie of Castle Hayne; a son, Curtis Merritt Jr. and wife Nancy of Rocky Point; a sister Marie Robison of Wilmington; 6 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held 2 PM Monday, at Oleander Memorial Gardens with Phillip Pope officiating.

Visitation will be 3-5 PM Sunday, at Wilmington Burial and Cremation, and other times at the home of Willie and Flora Padgett.
