Kim Lewis Heacock Walker, 67,  passed away Thursday, November 14, 2019 peacefully in her sleep at her home in University Place Apartments.

She was born on September 9, 1952 in Perth Amboy, NJ. Her adopted parents were Mary Elizabeth Lewis and William Bell Heacock.

Kim was a loving and caring person and had many special and helpful friends. She was a five-year cancer survivor and was baptized at the Apostolic Church of Wilmington.

Survivors include two children whom she loved very much, Stephen Alric Gore of Clayton, NC and Britani Elizabeth Becher (Kyle) of Pinhook, NC; four cousins, Margaret Hunt Thompson of Mountainside, NJ, Barbara Lewis Pugh (Kerry) of Wellington, FL, Debi Lewis Oparnica (Peter) of Cartersville, GA and Melissa Lewis Staton (Derek) of Spring Hill, FL and a brother, Charles Hunt Heacock of Myrtle Beach, SC.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2019 from 3:00-5:00 PM at Wilmington Funeral & Cremation, 1535 S. 41st St, Wilmington, NC 28403, 910.791.9099.

In lieu of flowers memorial may be made in Kim’s memory to NHRMC Foundation to Benefit Zimmer Cancer Center c/o  2001 South 17th Street, Wilmington, NC 28401 or at www.nhrmcfoundation.org.

    Friends since 2008, sisters by choice almost immediately.....you were one of the best friends I ever had. I’m going to miss you so much! Now, you’re free of pain and healed of cancer! Praise God!     I have so many happy memories of spending Christmas holidays with my cousins Kim and Charlie. Playing croquet, singing Christmas carols while Grandma Lewis played the piano, trying to escape Grandpa Lewis' tickling, but always coming back for more. Prayers for Charlie, your precious children and your friends that they will find peace and comfort in knowing that you are with our Savior now and free from pain. Until we meet again, I will keep you in my heart.
