James Yondell Gilmore 64, of Wilmington died Monday June 13, 2011 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter.

Mr. Gilmore was born in Hancock County, KY, to the late Rady Gilmore and Josephine M. Gray. He was self-employed in construction.

In addtion to his parents, he is predeceased by a daughter, Cheri Lynn Gilmore.

Survivors include his daughter, Teresa Gilmore Simmons, two sons, James Y. Gilmore, Jr, and Michael Shane Gilmore; and nine grandchildren.

In accordance with his wishes, no services are planned at this time.

    Pete, Beloved Brother, Although our Life Paths often kept us apart in distance, we were always close in heart. The times we did spend together were filled with joy & laughter. One of my favorite moments took place when there was an ocean between us. Here I am watching TV in 78 degrees Hawaiian sunshine when up pops my brother on CNN from frozen N.C. scraping ice off his windshield. What a Treasure! You ask me to never forget how much you loved me. How could I? Once the book is written, Love of Family is all that matters. Robert misses you too.
