Frances Roberts Smith, 76, of Wilmington died Saturday August 29, 2009 at Mariner Health.

Frances was the widow and beloved wife of James B. Smith who died June 1999, and a member of Grace Baptist Church.

Surviving are daughters Sandra Roberts of Wilmington and Brenda Smith of Charlotte, Sisters Nancy Futrell of Potershill , Betty Brown of Jacksonville and Patsy Ganey of Wilmington; brothers William Earl Roberts, of Wilmington, Jack Roberts of Beulaville, NC., grandchildren Heather Swain; Amber Gillespie ; Nicole Hewett; Colin Madden, Christian and Dustin Brown; great-grandchildren Dylan Edgell, Briana Smith and Aden Pattishal.

The family will see friends from 4 P.M until 6 P.M Sunday at Wilmington Burial and Cremation Service.

A graveside Funeral service will be conducted 11:00 A.M Monday August 31, 2009 at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

    Sandra Roberts says:
    I lost my best friend in all the world on August 29, 2009-my beautiful mother. She was always there for us. The last years of her life she was not well and I know she wasn't happy. I hope now she is happy and carefree up in heaven reunited with my other best friend, my dad, the love of her life. She never really accepted losing him. All our lives changed dramatically and not for the better with the passing of my dad. I expect it to be the same losing our wonderful mother and grandmother. I truly feel all alone now.
