Denise Desfonds Powers of Winnabow, NC, died Friday, October 8, 2010, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington, NC.

She was born on December 15, 1961, the daughter of the late Joseph and Virginia (Garner) Desfonds and was preceded in death by her brother Mickey Desfonds.

Denise was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed fishing, bowling, shooting pool, playing games on the computer and spending time with her family and friends.

Surviving are: a son Brandon J. Desfonds of Hemingway, SC, two daughters, Tabatha S. Carver of Southport, NC and Nicole Carver of Southport, NC, four brothers, David I. Desfonds and wife Mandy of Grissettown, NC, Joseph R. Desfonds Jr. and wife Ginger of Supply, NC, John S. Desfonds and wife Joanne of Goldsboro, NC, and Benjaman P. Desfonds of Winnabow, NC, a sister, Mary A. Edwards and husband Robert of Winnabow, NC, a step-mother, Janice Ward of Winnabow, NC, a life partner, Joyce Lowery of Leland, NC, two grandchildren, four nieces, eight nephews, three grandnephews, three grandnieces and a husband Richard E. Powers of Hemingway, SC.

A memorial service will be held at 6 PM Friday, October 15, 2010, at Life Of Victory Everlasting, 1444 Lanvale Road, Leland, NC, with Sister Lori Jones officiating.
