David Ray Russell


David Ray Russell, Sr. 66, of Wilmington died Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.

He was known as the “Tooth Fairy” to the dental field and “Pops” to his Harley family, he owned and operated Hanover Dental Laboratory. Born in New Hanover County on August 14, 1944 the son of the late John Quince, Sr. and Nellie Irene Russell.

Surviving are his wife of 48 years Linda Ragan Russell, sons David Russell, Jr., Tim Russell and wife Michele, Sonny Russell and wife Christy, brothers Jimmy, William and Ernest, sisters Madeline Jordan and Carolyn Reel, 10 grandchildren all of Wilmington.

Funeral services will be conducted 6:00 PM Friday, June 17, 2011 at Silver Lake Baptist Church. The family will see friends after the service.

    When I think of Uncle Ray, I always will remember how he made us smile and how kind he was-- I especially remember how he made my Daddy (Bobby Russell) smile and laugh with him so easily!
